Butterfly bush

A Dwarf Butterfly Bush is great for small gardens and patios. Buddleia Buzz is easy to grow an problem free with a super long flowering period. Perfectly proportioned for patio pots and smaller gardens, Buddleia is loved for it's elegant and fragrant blooms, produced in a profusion right through until autumn. Everyone loves Buddleia, but up until the production of 'Buzz', they were a challenge to incorporate into smaller gardens because of their large size. Now these new varieties have changed this. These new hybrids are perfect in gardens both small and large. While other Butterfly Bushes will grow up to 8ft, 'Buzz' will stay between 2-3ft and will respond well to re-shaping.

Verbena Bonariensis

This is a tall slender-stemmed perennial. It can grow to 6ft tall, and as it matures it develops a woody base. Fragrant lavender to rose-purple flowers are borne in tight clusters located on terminals and auxiliary stems, blooming right through summer and well into autumn.

The flowers are very attractive to butterflies and provide nectar for native bees and many beneficial garden insects. Verbena grows best in very well drained soil and likes a good amount of sunshine. It is a trouble-free plant in regard to insects, as it rarely gets attacked by anything.

Another variety of Verbena is 'Rigida', which flowers from May until the autumn. It's flowers are a wonderfully rich dark purple colour, which attracts a lot of butterflies.

This Verbena slowly spreads and intermingles with other plants, where it forms small drifts. It can be used to great effect amongst roses and other flowering perennials. It only grows to 2ft, making it a great companion plant for the larger Bonariensis.
