Griffins started as a green field site approximately 26 years ago, located in a very scenic area along the Dripsey River in the Lee Valley just 10 minutes outside of Ballincollig and Blarney. From humble beginnings to the unique retail destination it has become over the years with it's renowned garden centre, homestore and gourmet restaurant, owner Margaret Griffin has carved out a little piece of perfection in Dripsey. Our restaurant uses all of Granny Griffins recipes for breads, cakes, pies and pastries. All meats are from local farms, as are all cheeses and vegetables.
Over 80% of Griffins plants are grown in our own nursery by one of Ireland's top growers John Fehily. John has ensured that he chooses the correct plants that will thrive in the Irish environment. Using a combination of proven traditional techniques and modern technology, he has developed a system to ensure that these plants are well conditioned to the current climate before they reach the garden centre. The massive displays of rich colour throughout the gardens is a reflection of this hard work and customers can always be certain that plants bought at Griffins are of the highest quality possible.
Griffins also has an amazing gift shop and resturaunt. The gift shop is most definitely a cut above the rest. High quality, tasteful and unique gifts of all shapes and sizes can be found here, from the old style, traditional items to contemporary decor. What's more, this is truly a place for hassle free shopping – a haven just 20 mins from the city!.
The Spinning Wheel Restaurant is an inspired culinary experience! With views looking out on to a gorgeous river valley and food that is freshly prepared and cooked each day by our master chefs, a visit just for the food alone is more than worth it! Granny Griffin's home baking is well known around the county and people have travelled from far and wide to experience her amazing treats, especially her famous Apple Pie. As for the tasty breakfast and gourmet lunches, all the Ingredients are source locally and can be traced back to the local growers and suppliers. Griffins' chefs truly believe that cork is the best county for its meat and fish products, a belief that is reflected every day on their menu board.
